ashtanga
yoga (continued)

...When all these elements are practiced together, consistently over a period of time the body becomes light and strong, practice becomes like a moving meditation. Being aware of each breath and allowing oneself to be carried by the breath enables a letting go of all expectations and judgments of oneself and potential is created to move beyond perceived restrictions.

The breath is like a golden thread of energy which connects all beings in this universe. Awareness of this through consistent yoga practice dissolves any sense of separation. Each day as we come to our mats to practice we give ourselves a chance to acknowledge our connection to the universe and open our hearts to the power of her presence.

It is important to observe the correct traditional sequence of postures. It is only when the first asana is performed with steadiness and correct breathing that the next asana should be taught. This is essential to prevent injury.

Each student should practice to their own capability, knowing that progress is a result of consistent, focused practice without thought of the goal.
