Thankful I am to the Naturopath who suggested I take up yoga in 1994 to help me deal with the stressful situations I encountered as a nurse in a busy Melbourne hospital…

In 1997, whilst nursing in London I dropped into my first Ashtanga Yoga class with John Scott. I was captivated by the use of the breath, the intense internal heat that rose in my body and the effortless effort the practice demanded… a dance of energy that changed my body, opened my mind and gave me strength I never thought possible. A few months later I landed in Mysore, India to further my journey studying with Guruji (Shri K. Pattabhi Jois) and R. Sharath (his grandson). I return annually to my teachers in India who are a constant source of inspiration. Their dedication to yoga and teaching is beyond description. Guruji authorized me to teach in 2001.

Maintenance of individual’s wellbeing and health has always interested me. In addition to nursing I have studied natural medicine and massage (shiatsu). I see my practice and teaching of yoga as a continuation of this interest, enabling me to assist myself and others achieve physical health and seek balance in all areas of life.

Although I teach workshops in Asia, I am predominantly based in Melbourne where I teach and study. My passion for a deeper understanding of Indian culture and yogic philosophy has taken me back to university where I am studying an Arts Degree with a Sanskrit major. I thank Professor M.A. Jayashree for her inspiration and guidance...
